These replaced a pair of Reef sandals that wore out. I disliked the Reefs because after one washing the straps stretched and they were too loose. These went in to the wash immediately and did not stretch.I like the construction very much, these are solid enough to provide arch support, and fit close enough to provide traction around my sloping back yard. I wouldn’t try to run in them but they are very good for casual wear.

These flip-flops are not your rubber flip-flops from the drug store. They are what I consider medium weight, sturdy but not heavy. The sole looks like it will last for many miles. The arch support is good, especially for a sandal. The texture of the foot bed fells good when when walking. The one caution is that the straps are somewhat still and rather snug, which some may consider uncomfortable. On the other hand, you won’t walk out of them. they will stay securely on your feet.. All things considered, these are the best flip-flops I’ve ever had.

My shoe and sandal buying habits: Whether sandals or walking shoes/sneakers I always buy leather uppers and rubber soles for both durability and comfort. I most often shop at discount big box stores because I believe shoes that cost $3 to make in Asia should be cheap at retail. Over the years I have gotten fantastic deals that meet my needs, almost always at prices under $30, at Walmart, K-Mart, etc. With all these elements in mind, I chose this purchase because they met my conditions of material construction – leather and rubber – and from the pictures appeared to be well made and because the price met my self-imposed budgetary limits. I ordered them on July 4 and received them July 8. I have only just now put them on and so far could not be more pleased. The fit is close to perfect and will most likely become perfect after a few days of wearing them. There is a flexible insole with a spongy give to them that provides excellent standing and walking comfort – perhaps better than any sandals I have owned in my 70-plus years. All that remains is see is whether they are durable – the aforementioned cheap footwear I am used to buying ALWAYS gives me at least a few years of use. Should these fail the durability test, I will be sure to update this review at that time. Likewise, should they give me prolonged wear and comfort, I will also update this review – hopefully a few years down the road.

This sandal feels good to walk in. The bottom of the sandal looks like the bottom of a shoe. It has good traction like a walking shoe. The heal is a little over a inch thick. The sandal foot bed is contoured like the bottom of a foot. These are not flat like some other sandals. The foot bed is medium soft, it feels good standing in them. The toe divider is always the weak part of these kind of sandals. This one has two layers at the toe, see pictures. The inside material appears to be 9/16″ webbing strap. It looks like it will hold up.The only fabric material is the strap, I’m not sure how waterproof it is.I like the feeling of walking in these sandals over my olukai leather sandals. The olukai are clearly a better sandal but these feel really nice to wear. The only downside is you get a loud clicking sound walking in these sandals. The olukai have very little clicking sound. But these sandals are much cheaper and I can wear them in the water and not work about ruining them. That is why I bought them, cheap sandal to wear around the water. I was surprised at how comfortable they are to walk in. I have worn them on several 3-4 mile walks, no issues with hot spots or other wear points. They get my approval for a descent sandal.

These sandals are nice and soft, flat sole ( no heel), the insole is made of some kind of fabric. The back little belt around heel is not detachable, you cant unfasten it but its possible to flip it to the front of a leg. They are medium, not wide, though I could fit in with my high arch and perhaps if someone wanted to make it roomier he could make a cut in the leather inside of a zipper. They were a bit longer/larger for my feet therefore I returned.

I’m a big sandal wearer and I went through two pairs of these in less than a month. Design flaw alert where the plastic buckle attaches to the sandal is a weak spot. First pair, the entire piece where the buckle attaches on one sandal completely ripped off after wearing them 4 times. I sent them back and got a new pair in exchange. Fast forward 2 weeks, the same place, the material that attaches the buckle to the sandal is apparently glued together. It ripped open after my 4th or 5th time wearing them. Its not like I’m torquing the strap so hard it’s causing the damage, because I’m not and after the issue that occurred with the first pair I was being careful. It’s a “get what you pay for” situation. Nice sandals but if they fall apart after a couple of weeks, they’re not worth the trouble. It’s supposed to be a hiking sandal. I can’t imagine what would happen if the cheap part on the sandal decided to come apart on a trail.

For those with wide feet, they are narrow. I like the small arch support and should prevent slips compared with cheap flip-flops
