I’ve never edged our lawn before but have been regularly asked by my wife to use our weed wacker which is highly inefficient. Thought I’d give an actual edger a try. This Worx assembly is a breeze. Took less than 5 minutes to assemble 3 basic screws. 2 to fully assemble the handle and 1 to assemble and lock in the adjustable handle. The actual edging is a breeze as well, especially with the “sidewalk edge guide” which extends down and allows you to get a nice even edge/line. You can also adjust the depth of the edge and not having done this before, I realized you should use the shallowest setting first before going to a deeper setting ( if required). This electric edger gives you a nice consistent power supply, and your only real limitation is the length of your own extension cord! Descriptions are nice, but since pictures say 1,000 words, here’s a before and after. Great edger!

I use mine on grass and light weeds and it has plenty of power . The flower guard is a nice feature and I love the adjustability of this weed eater . If you want something to cut small brush this isn’t it but its awesome for the average yard . I already have 2 cordless worx weed eaters , which are great , but this one has way more power . Thanks for the amazing deal .

I ordered this trimmer because I have been so frustrated with trying to keep my gas trimmers in running order. Ethanol kills 2-cylce gas engines! I figured for $31 and some change, I had nothing to lose with this trimmer. Wow, this is so much more powerful than I ever expected. This trimmer blazed right through knee high ryegrass that had grown up in my flower garden. I’m serious, I like this trimmer better than my gas Stihl and Echo trimmers. Yes, it is somewhat annoying to have an electric cord, but not near as annoying as always having to tinker with my gas engines to keep them running. Additionally, the auto feed line works superbly.

Sold as “New” but not in original box….It was indeed NOT the factory original box. What wasn’t told about the unit was that the dual line feed holder had been rewound NOT by the factory and NOT with factory line. The line was actually a more expensive type that had been wound by hand and done real sloppy. Any one that has had trimmer knows if you wrap the cord in the holder in a quick and sloppy way, you’ll be stopping every two minutes to pull more line out by hand as the auto feed design assumes the cord is wrapped correctly as not to get held up because of cross alignment on the holder. From the first 5 minutes of use I noticed the cord was not coming out and I had to stop and pull more cord out by hand in order to continue trimming. After 7 or 8 times of this I decided to take a look at the spool and line itself and found the line had been put on the holder in such a way it stopped feeding and was causing heat to build up on the line and was trying to melt itself together thus causing even more resistance to feeding out. These are all signs of the line not being wrapped in the spool correctly and certainly not by factory machine or even a person taught how to wrap the line correctly. Not what one would call “New” in any sense of the word.

I just purchased my house and along with it came a completely let go lawn. The bermuda grass had covered the sidewalk over 1 foot in some places. I pretty much ruined the first blade getting the first edge around my whole yard but that was due to the fact my hard had never been edged before. This bad boy had plenty of power but it did take a little while on the first go around. Now edging is a piece of cake. I also purchased a 100′ extension cord from amazon and had no problems getting it to fit the plug as other reviewers said they had. Buy this bad boy, its a great deal!TIP: When your done with an edge, make sure you let the blade stop spinning before you let go of the handle on the sidewalk. I chipped my sidewalk in many places because I kept forgetting that the blade was spinning.

I have lost count of the number of Black and Deckers I have used throughout the years. However, when a new battery for my battery powered B&D is almost the same as a new weed eater I decided to rethink my options. Since I have a couple of the other Worx yard tools and love them I didn’t hesitate on ordering this weed eater. It was very easy to assemble. I am thrilled with how easy it is to adjust for usage. And even better is how easy you can adjust the shaft based on your height. No more back and shoulder pain because I was too short. It made short work of some weeds that were impervious to the B&D. The only draw back is that my heavy duty extension cord was too thick to go through the slot.

Your browser does not support HTML5 video.  We upgraded from a slowly dying battery operated whacker. This is much more powerful. It has 2 nylon strings coming out and cuts a diameter about the size of a regular family pizza. I made my 11-1/2 year old change out of his crocs, and had him put on safety googles.

This is definitely up to WORX standards. The line breaks repeatedly creating a VERY frustrating ordeal. The reason…the cord is not wound evenly about the spindle, consequently the auto release feature does not work properly. Hence, the line does not advance and breaks inside the spindle. Save yourself and buy the cord and wind it yourself. The time will be well spent. By the way, the cordless weed eater is a great product, but needs good support from a well wound line.

I’m a landlord and purchased several of these; I gave two to tenants to encourage them to edge their yards. These are cheap and light, and you get what you pay for. They just don’t hold up. Of the (I think) 5 I’ve purchased, all are now dead. The issue is the design. The motor is down near the spool (unlike with most gas models). As you use the edger, particularly in dirty or dusty environments, dirt and debris get sucked into the little slats that allow for airflow to cool the electric motor. This is unavoidable. Eventually, the motor burns out. I’ve tried, but it’s not possible to take the head apart enough to clean it. Another annoyance is that the spools often stop feeding, and you have to take the feeder mechanism apart and pull the line out yourself. The plastic line warms up as you use it, and the line starts sticking to itself. There were several times when this happened so frequently that I was tempted to hurl the thing over the fence. I finally broke down and purchased a gas model that I can put other attachments on; I’ve been pleased with that. If you don’t mind buying a new one of these every year or two, or if you have no dirt in your yard (heh), this will probably work passably for you.

As mentioned in other reviews the edger is powerful but it has difficulty plowing through thick, matted turf. In my case the grass had overgrown the edges of my brick walk. It had been a couple of years since it was edged before so there were at least 3″ of grass that had to be cut back. Since my lawn is irrigated and fertilized regularly the soil is always moist. This compounded the situation and made it necessary to stop every 20′ or so to dig out the dirt and grass that had accumulated in the shroud (the blade enclosure). I know that they warn about using it in “wet” grass, but it should be designed to handle earth with moisture in it. Another problem was that the back edge of the shroud kept catching on the thick grass as it moved forward, and the wheels would not ride up over the clumps without a hefty push. I had to keep rocking the unit back and forth to get it to progress and cut to the depth I wanted. This might be corrected to some degree with larger rear wheels. At any rate, with sufficient patience, the edger performs well. I have not had the problem of the blade coming loose as so many others have complained about–at least not yet. Time will tell about this. As you can see in the attached photo, the machine has cleaned up one side of my walkway quite well. Of course, you have to employ other tools to dislodge and remove the sods once they are cut free. The 80′ of the one side of the walk took me about 45 minutes. This was the first time I used the edger. I expect the other side will take me less time tomorrow now that I have the hang of using the machine. I also expect that the edger will work much more efficiently once an edge has been established and all that is necessary is to maintain it in the future.Followup: Finished the job the following day, and as expected, the other side of the walk went quicker. Once this opposite edge was cut back to where it needed to be, and the sod clumps were removed, I did another pass on both sides of the walk with the edger. I wanted to make nice, straight, clean edges. This final edging went very quickly and gave me the finished look I wanted. Now, having done both sides of the 80′ walk twice (4X80’=320′) I can comment on the question of the blade loosening. No problem whatsoever. To test for this, I used a large adjustable crescent wrench to hold the spindle from turning, and a 15 mm socket to tighten the nut. After the first 80′ pass I did the first check for tightness. I was able to tighten the nut about 1/8 turn only. It was pretty tight, and must have come from the factory that way. Then, after the job was complete (three more passes) I checked it again. This time I was unable to tighten it any more. No loosening at all had occurred. So, I can only conclude that others who have had the loosening issue either didn’t confirm the tightness of the blade to begin with, or they were cutting through tough ground–perhaps hitting stones along the way.Bottom line: Other than the problem mentioned regarding the unit struggling to make the initial cuts through overgrown, thick grass, the edger does a very good job. This is especially true if you keep up with your edging and don’t let the grass encroach over your pavement so that you have to cut a lot of it back. I’m thinking that if I do the job every year at the beginning of the season the machine will do fine. On the other hand, if you let it go two or three years like I did you can plan to do quite a bit of work to bring things back to where you want them to be. Even then, with patience, the Worx WG896 will make the job a lot more manageable.

I bought these to go with my Worx trimmer/edger at the same time that I bought the trimmer/edger. The trimmer line lasted a long time, but as expected, there came a time to replace it since it ran out. The first spool I used from the Worx WA0010 6-Pack Replacement Trimmer Line worked well but suddenly broke for no apparent reason. Nevertheless, I figured I had done something wrong, so I pulled it out the cartridge and tried to pay out some new line. However, it wouldn’t allow me to. On inspection, it appeared that the line had been wrapped on the spool incorrectly and there was no way I could find an end to pull out. I pulled out a new pack and it worked fine for about 4 times, then broke. Again, I tried to pull out additional line but it’s almost as though it’s fused together or wrapped incorrectly. With ⅓ of my package failing, I am quite discouraged. I’ll continue to try the remaining 4 spools but am not optimistic that I will get more than 3-4 times of edging/trimming before the same problem develops. I’ll update this review if I fine the remaining ones work fine, but still, a 33% failure rate makes this pack extremely expensive and therefore I cannot recommend it. Unfortunately, the return window has closed so I’m basically stuck.

Be prepared to have to slice this line apart every few minutes. And it’s so hard, you end up slicing your fingers while you’re at it. I thought my first few lines where maybe melted together . But certainly not the next few spools. Right? Sure enough, every spool has tangled up lines with . I’ve ordered a two pack twice, and on every single of the 4 spools has the same problem. Horrible product that is dangerous.

I ordered these right after ordering a new string trimmer. The original spool that came with the trimmer worked great, but when my original string ran out I replaced it with one of the spools in this 6 pack. While it is the correct model and visually (as close as the eye can tell) it appears to be exactly the same, though a slightly different shade of orange, it simply would not advance the string, even manually with the button next to the spool. After further inspection I can visually tell that the shape of the gears are just not as crisp and there are different mold marks than on the original, appears to be from a poor quality “copied, knock off” mold. They came in a Worx branded package but simply do not work as the original spool. Since I didn’t try these until after 40 days, and return options are closed after 30 days there seems to be no recourse and no customer service # to contact so I’m stuck with these! I will try to contact Worx and will follow up if they correct the issue, though I suspect they aren’t really Worx brand and the shipper is fraudulently advertising as Worx.

I was wondering for the first three times using my 40 volt Worx trimmer, why the COMMAND FEED did not work? I checked YouTube for an hour. I came to discover the spool would never properly feed. I ordered a six pack of replacement s. I finally discovered not only that the original spool was backwards, but the brand new Worx spools I just ordered were wound backwards as well. Go figure that one? Unfortunately the spools are wound clockwise as the arrow notes, but the design is opposite that. I took two minutes to undo and rewind the spools the opposite way. And now my Command Feed and trimmer Worx perfectly…

These spools are amazing! I previously purchased similar items from another vendor that made using my trimmer a nightmare. So much so I was ready to buy another brand trimmer. Then I found these! These not only feed out properly, they made my trimmer come alive! These cut and chop like no other! My yard and sidewalk has not looked this good in years!

The spool cover and line look similar to the same items I have purchased direct from the manufacturer in the past. This item includes quantity of two spool covers. My factory spool cover had worn through. The original spool cover lasted five years of light use. The replacement spool cover that I purchased wore out in only a few uses. Thankfully they give you two covers so I can still use my trimmer while I have a new cover on order with the factory.I also found that the covers do not fit securely on the trimmer. You have to force it into the clips and it does not fit properly.I also found that the spools of trim line do not last as long as the factory trim line.Good value and quick delivery but quality is not good.

Finally fed up with this line and the trimmer I bought. The line is wrapped on the spool unevenly and far too tightly. Couple that with what seem to be burrs on the line and it makes using this product EXTREMELY frustrating. Today was the straw that broke the proverbial camel’s back. After manually advancing the line about 25 times the line became so bound up I had to resort to pulling it free from the spool with pliers. In an attempt to keep my sanity I decided it would work better if I tossed it in the lake. So if you enjoy cruel and unusual punishment please feel free to fish it out.

The line is much thinner than the worx line I usually order and the replacement caps do not fit securely, therefore they are useless to me. It is not always wise to chose the cheaper product and I honestly regret this purchase. If I had stuck with the worx brand line, I would have 6 spools of strong line, but now I have 8 spools of thinner/weaker line and spools I have to through out.
